The tree is rooted in the sky

The Russian Pavilion at the Biennale Architettura 2026 explores the deep connection between nature, memory, and transformation

The Bridge at Night

CURATOR TEXT

The Russian Pavilion at the Biennale Architettura 2026 takes the tree as its guiding image: a living structure that connects earth and sky, root and crown, past and future.

In a time of constant transformation, the project reflects on the idea of rootedness — not as a fixed position, but as a dynamic force that nourishes growth, memory, and possibility.

Through the works of contemporary artists and architects, the Pavilion becomes a space for thinking with nature, not against it.

«The tree does not rise into the sky to escape the earth, but to reveal it more fully.»
